Nowadays, it's difficult to find a honest public person, well-known people who lead their lives according to their principles, people who are not outshone by power and money. This lack of coherence between what they declare and how they live is a constant that most of us don't understand but, unfortunately, accept. The fact that one of them shows that it's possible to be honest give us a breather. Javier Marías has shown that is an excellent writer and a coherent man by rejecting the Spanish National Narrative Prize. He received it for The Infatuations but I would like to suggest you the first novel I read written by him.
