La educación parece que deja de tener la vital importancia que debiera. Educar a los jóvenes no significa solamente enseñarles conocimientos, sino formar a personas que tengan criterio, capacidad de reflexión y de crítica. Parece que en los tiempos que corren esto último asusta a las altas esferas y así nos obligan a llevar a nuestros hijos a aulas masificadas, donde solamente se premie a los excelentes. Ya otras generaciones vivieron tiempos oscuros donde la libertad era solamente un sueño y aún así algunos docentes lucharon para que sus alumnos la consiguieran. 

At the present, Education is loosing its importance. Education means not only passing on certain knowledge to young people but also helping them to grow up as persons with their own judgment, capacity to think and to criticize. But nowadays, all of this scares the political elite and consequently our children must attend overcrowded classrooms where only the excellent will success. A long time ago, Spain had to suffer dark times when freedom was only a dream. Nevertheless, some teachers fought to give their students the possibility of being free.

1923. Grabiela acaba de obtener su título de maestra que la llevará a enseñar en escuelas rurales de España y Guinea Ecuatorial. Desde los años 20 y hasta el comienzo de la guerra civil, Gabriela rememora una época de pobreza, ignorancia y opresión, y muestra el importante papel de la enseñanza y de aquellos que lucharon por educar un país.
 
  1923. Grabiela has just obtained a title of teacher. She will teach in different rural schools in Spain and Equatorial Guinea. From the 20s to the beginning of the Spanish Civil War, Gabriela remembers a time of poverty, ignorance and oppression and she shows us the significant role of education and of those who fought to educate a country.
