Out of all possible dreams, can't there be dreams of the future?
Pastwatch

I have to admit that I'm not very keen on sci-fi, though someone very close to me is. I am not really worried about this but my lack of curiosity about this genre does surprise me. In fact, I like fantasy and feel attracted to the existence of other worlds. But, you know, human being... with all its complexities and contradictions. Well, what I really wanted to tell you is that my dear brother gave me one of these books, and after giving me solid arguments about the convenience of reading it, I finally did. To be honest, I soon felt trapped in the story of a future civilization in an ideal world, where hunger and wars don't exist any longer, they are just things of the past. But it's in this past where the inhabitants of the future can find the understanding of their own present. So that, it's necessary to keep an eye on it, just to avoid the repetition of the terrible mistakes that lead our planet into a horrible place to live in. And it's in this past where they can hear the voice of the forgotten people who claim their place in History. Then, these Pastwatchers  must face the complex decision of acting on this past to change the course of History, the key moment when the human race became a slave of itself. It is a book to reflect about our own existence, about being mere spectators of what happens around us or taking an active role in the building of our own future.

VIGILANTES DEL PASADO, de Orson Scott Card

PASTWATCH. THE REDEMPTION OF CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS, by Orson Scott Card

In one of the most powerful and thought-provoking novels of his remarkable career, Orson Scott Card interweaves a compelling portrait of Christopher Columbus with the story of a future scientist who believes she can alter human history from a tragedy of bloodshed and brutality to a world filled with hope and healing.
